What do the planets mean in Human Design?

The planets represented as symbols on either side of the bodygraph hold similar meanings to the Astrological interpretations.


If you haven't read this post yet, you may need to understand its contents before you dive in here.


First, it is helpful to get to know which gates you have defined in your chart. Then, it is helpful to understand which planets your gates are defined in to add another layer of insights on how to use these gate's energies.

This is where Astrology shows up in Human Design. The gate definitions of the Design side are the snapshot of the neutrinos leaving their imprint on you exactly 88 days or 88 degrees before the moment of your birth.

The planetary meanings in Human Design:



Sun

Whichever gate is in your Sun represents what you are here to share and externalise, it is where you are most expressive and what people can easily identify in you.


Earth

Whichever gate is in your Earth represents what you need to be grounded and embodied in or it is an energy that tends to ground you. When you are grounded in this energy, in order for you to express your Sun's energy optimally.



North N0de

Whichever gate is in your North Node represents a big theme that will become important from around 38-42 years old and onwards.



South N0de

Whichever gate is in your South Node represents the big theme you live throughout your earlier life before 38 years old. It can be a major theme from your past life that you must solidify or master in this life in order to be able to live out your North Node theme as your new theme for this life time.



Moon

The gate in your Moon represents your motivation, your 'why' or your driver.


Mercury

The gate in your Mercury represents what you are here to communicate about or teach.


Venus

The gate in your Venus represents what you value and what you are valued for.



Mars

The gate in your Mars represents passion, desire, aggression, potential immaturity. It is an area that you might feel challenged in and invites you to mature into. On the unconscious side of your chart, this gate represents your Core Wound as well.



Jupiter

The gate in your Jupiter represents the type of blessings you will receive, especially after you heal your Saturn challenges.



Saturn

The gate in your Saturn represents a major area of challenge for you to heal in this lifetime. Especially during your first Saturn Return at the end of your 20s, it can really shock you and disrupt your life. There is a second and third Saturn return at the end of our 50s and 80s.



Uranus

The gate in your Uranus represents unexpected news that shakes things up. The Uranus return occurs around the age of 40 and this is what people refer to as going through a midlife crisis. This usually has a tribal or communal energy as well.



Neptune

The gate in your Neptune represents how you connect with your highest level of both creativity and divinity, as well as your spiritual practices. This is the energy that your generation shares with you.



Pluto

The gate in your Pluto represents birth and death and rebirth. There is potential for transformation and growth here.
